Broadchurch Series 1 is outstanding. It’s haunting and emotional and features incredible performances from David Tennant and Olivia Colman. It wrapped things up so expertly that I would never have expected a 2nd series, let alone a third. But, it looks like Broadchurch Series 3 is officially happening, despite the less than thrilled response Series 2 has received.

Creator and writer Chris Chibnall had this to say about the news: “We’ve been overwhelmed that nine million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of Broadchurch. This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time and I’m thrilled to be writing these characters once again.” (Source: The Independent)

Broadchurch Series 2 hasn’t made its way stateside yet, so I haven’t gotten a chance to decide whether or not a third series is a good or bad thing. Really, though, sometimes things should be left to stand alone regardless of how popular they are. The First Series of Broadchurch in no way demanded a follow up series and yet it exists regardless. We’ll be sure to let you know what we think of the Second Series as soon as we get a chance to check it out!
