Oh, happy day! The Man Without Fear is returning to Netflix for a second season.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – this news is just so splendid, so unbelievably amazing. There has to be a catch, right? Well, kind of.

Daredevil will be returning without showrunner Steven S. DeKnight.

I had a bit of a mini panic attack upon hearing this. After all, the 1st season of Daredevil was superb and DeKnight was one of the primary reasons for this. That being said, it sounds like his replacements are solid folk. They are Doug Petrie (writer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, co-executive producer for American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (writer for Sons of Anarchy). Not too shabby, right? According to Entertainment Weekly, the two of them worked closely with both DeKnight and series creator Drew Goddard in the first season and both served as producers for the show.

While it’s sad to see DeKnight part ways with Daredevil, the series is being left in very capable hands. So, let’s focus on the great news: Daredevil is coming back!! And seeing as how there are plenty of great Daredevil stories left to tell, the possibilities for Season 2 are endless.

UPDATED: Steven S. DeKnight took to Twitter to explain why he would not be returning:

He goes on to say:

And according to IGN:

On Marvel’s website, DeKnight has a statement which reads, “While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
