Marvel and ABC shook things up earlier this month with the announcement that they were planning an Agents of SHIELD spinoff show. Now it looks like we’re finally getting some details as to what that spinoff will entail.

According to Deadline, fan favorite supporting characters Lance Hunter and Barbara “Bobbi” Morse, played by Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki  respectively, will be headlining the new spinoff.

The spinoff is supposed to be set up by events from this season of S.H.I.E.L.D. It is unclear whether that would involve the secret plan by Bobbi and Mack, which had been heavily teased going into the spring run of the show. The offshoot was developed by S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski, who are writing the script and would executive produce. ABC is not expected to make a formal greenlight call until the script comes in, with the hope being to be able to do that before the upfronts. The spinoff may film a promo or do a pilot. If it goes to series, I hear Zbyszewski is expected to serve as showrunner.

Of course, no one has confirmed anything, as is standard practice for Marvel, but if this is true we may be hearing the official word sooner rather than later.

I’m a fan of the characters; Blood and Palicki are two of the most likable actors on Agents of SHIELD. The idea of a spinoff starring the two of them definitely has potential. We’ll keep you posted on any further news as it is reported.
