Maisie Williams, a.k.a. Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark, is taking a much-deserved break from the stress and bloodshed of Westeros to travel space and time with everyone’s favorite Time Lord. The news was jointly announced today on both the BBC and Doctor Who Twitter handles. Also released was the first shot of Ms. Williams looking right at home on the TARDIS. (seen above)

Although the details on Williams’ character are being kept under wraps, Doctor Who showrunner, Steven Moffat has dropped some hints on what we can expect: “[Williams] is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.” (Source: Deadline)

There are very few things that bring me as much joy as the thought of Peter Capaldi’s cranky Doctor butting heads with the fiery and brilliant beyond all reason Williams. This will undoubtedly be one of Season 9’s biggest highlights.

Doctor Who is set to return some time this fall on BBC and BBC America. No official premiere date as of yet, but you can bet your sweet booty we’ll keep you posted.
