23 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie 2, a Spider-Man animated feature, The Last Man on Earth Season 2 – these are just a few of the things on the overflowing plates of Phil Lord and Chris Miller. This wide range of projects further proves their insane versatility as filmmakers and general, all-around brilliance.

Now you can add a new live-action/animated hybrid series to the list. The boys are planning to shoot a pilot for their new series ‘Son of Zahn’ for FOX.

…the eight to ten-minute pilot presentation will focus on an animated barbarian dad who returns home to his live-action wife and son after having been away waging war for the last ten years. Other than the obvious conflicts between animated and live-action folks, he also struggles to find common ground with his family, muddle through his mundane office job, and survive suburbia. They’ve already cast one of the lead roles too. According to Collider, Johnny Pemberton (21/22 Jump Street) is set to play Alan, Zahn’s moody, teenage son.

How these guys manage to find the time to do all this stuff is beyond me; I’m just happy they’re doing it. They’ve proven themselves to be one of the most prolific pairs in Hollywood today and I hope they continue to get the opportunity to create and innovate for many years to come. If Son of Zahn is anything in line with the quality of their past projects, we’re in for a big treat. The pilot should begin shooting sometime this summer.
